Scholarships Helped Art History Student Graduate

May 2011

A classical piano composer and arranger, Renaissance man Tanner Young is driven by beauty for beauty’s sake. He graduated from BYU in 2010 with a degree in art history from the College of Fine Arts and Communications. “I come from a family of artists,” Young says. “Art history is a natural field for me.” Working with his family in their studio, Young provides commentary on accuracy and composition. He is also the studio’s webmaster and general promoter of his family’s artwork.

At BYU Young enjoyed researching in the Harold B. Lee library. “It is a one-of-a-kind resource where book research is still possible,” he says. Young was mentored by involved faculty and received scholarships made possible by donations. He says,“My scholarships ensured that I made it through all semesters of college, which otherwise might have been impossible.”
